We haven't blogged in a while. I figure it's mostly because we don't take many pictures, but it could also be because not much changes in our lives.
However, this weekend something did change. No, Brianne isn't pregnant. We got two kittens. We've been tossing the idea back and forth for a while now and we finally decided to get a kitten. I say "a kitten" because that was the original plan. Friday night we started looking at cats on craig's list. There were not many in the Corvallis so we decided to look at the Salem area. Brianne's sister, Alannah, was staying with us for the weekend, so we figured we could get some cats up in Salem. We found one in Silverton (the place where the movie Bandits was filmed).
After Brianne got off work on Saturday, we went and bought some cat food and a litter box and a couple toys for the cat. Then we drove to Silverton to go get our kitty. When we got there we met Dorris. Dorris is an older lady who rescues cats. She takes cats in that have been abandon or neglected. She nurses them back to health and then gives them away. We met several cats. There were four grey kittens with blue eyes that were absolutely adorable. They had been found in a burn pile and they were singed. They were fairly well recovered but she wanted to keep them a couple weeks longer. The kitten we were there for was black and white. They call it a tuxedo cat because it is black with white on its chest, stomach and paws. When we got there we found out that our kitten had a brother. They looked almost identical. It was too hard to choose one and I didn't want to separate them so I had to convince Brianne that we should take both of them. She said ok. We took them home.
When we first got home they were a bit freaked out. Every time we moved they would jump because they were afraid we were going to get them or something. By the next day they had warmed up to us quite a bit. In fact, they are both sitting on or near Brianne right now as she has her head resting on me. They've jumped on the computer a couple times and I had to correct their typos.
Since their only distinguishing difference is their noses (one is black the other is pink) we decided to get them collars of different colors. One is blue and the other is red. It took us a while to pick their names. We finally did, and we chose Bert (blue collar) and Ernie (red collar). I hope you enjoy their pictures as much as we enjoy their company.

We LOVE cats at our house and these are adorable. Our cat is getting quite old and it will be fun to have a kitten again someday. Enjoy them, I am sure you're in for a lot of mischief!
Congratulations on the kitties! I hope they are hours and hours of fun! I like their names too :).
Kudos to the names. I love it. Bert and Ernie, for those of you who only think that their names come from Sesame Street, originated from one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time. "It's a Wonderful Life". That is where Jim Henson (I would assume), came up with the names for his puppets. Oh Josh I do remember the names I was thinking of last night. Victor Hugo! : ) Enjoy your sweet kittens. Love mom
Hey Josh! Man, I haven't seen you in forever, I hope you don't mind I ran across your blog through Adam's facebook account. You and Brianne are so cute together! We have a blog now too, but it's private so I'd need your email if you are interested in checking it out. Cute kitties =)
